Hyro The Hero – Interview Exclusive !

C’est au célèbre bar Ak Shelter, situé à Saint Herblain près de Nantes, que je rencontre l’artiste le plus étonnant de la scène Metal actuelle : Hyro The Hero. Son nom ne vous est pas inconnu néanmoins, qui est-il vraiment ? Je vous propose de découvrir cet artiste au bagage musical conséquent et à la personnalité solaire et énergique. Ce surdoué de sa génération est capable de rassembler les foules et les plus monstrueux artistes Metal actuels, la légende est en marche, La France lui offrira-t-elle un écrin durable ou ne reconnaitra-t-elle encore pas sa chance d’accueillir sur ses terres un artiste hors normes ?

TvRockLive.com : Peux-tu te présenter au public français qui ne te connaitrait pas ?
Can you introduce yourself to french people that don’t know you?
Hyro : « My name is Hyro. I merge Rap and Rock. People say I sound like Rage Against The Machine. I started in L.A in 2007. I toured in the whole world, collaborated with the biggest and somehow landed in Nantes where I start to build my name. »

Hyro : Je suis Hyro. Je mixe Rap et Rock. Mon style fait penser aux gens à Rage Against The Machine. J’ai commencé professionnellement à Los Angeles en 2007. J’ai fait des tournées dans le monde entier, collaboré avec les plus grands noms et puis je suis arrivé récemment à Nantes où je commence à me faire ma place.

TvRockLive.com : D’où viens-tu ?
Where do you come from?
Hyro : « I’m From Houston Tx and lived +10y my life in Los Angeles to pursue my career in music. I left at 21 and things have worked out amazing for me ever since. »

Hyro : Je viens de Houston au Texas et j’ai vécu plus de 10 ans à Los Angeles pour lancer ma carrière dans la musique. Je suis partit de chez moi à 21 ans et depuis les choses ont plutôt bien fonctionné.

TvRockLive.com : A quel type de musique as-tu été bercé ?
Which music rocked your childhood?
Hyro : « I’ve always been A Hip Hop head. Tupac, Eminem, Pimp C, 50 cent, Kanye and DJ Screw shaped my Rap style. I decided to change over the radio station in high school and that’s where I discovered Rock and got into bands like Bad Brains, Fishbone, At The drive Inn and more. »

Hyro : J’ai toujours écouté du Hip Hop. Tupac, Eminem, Pimp C, 50 cent, Kanye et DJ Screw ont forgé mon style. J’ai décidé d’ouvrir mes horizons au lycée et j’ai découvert le Rock avec Bad Brains, Fishbone et At The Drive Inn pour ne citer qu’eux.

TvRockLive.com : Quels étaient les héros de ton enfance ?
Who were your chilhood heroes?
Hyro : « My childhood Heroes were always powerful speakers like Tupac and Malcolm X. Also confident individuals like Stone Cold Steve Austin and Shawn Michaels. I’ve always been inspired by a variety of people but I would have to say Tupac had the most affect on me. »

Hyro : Les héros de mon enfance ont toujours été de grands orateurs comme Tupac, Malcolm X et aussi les indépendants comme : Stone Cold Steve Austin et Shawn Michaels. J’ai toujours été inspiré par beaucoup de personnes diverses mais Tupac est celui qui me marque le plus.

TvRockLive.com : A quel moment t’es-tu dit que tu allais devenir Hyro The Hero ?
When did you know you would become Hyro The Hero?
Hyro : « When it came out of my mouth during a freestyle I made at 16 years old. I won a basketball game for my team at the buzzard and my friend said Hyro The hero. I decided to put that in my rap and everyone in my high school repeated that to me since I introduced my verse with so much confidence. »

Hyro : Quand j’avais 16 ans c’est sorti de ma bouche dans un Freestyle. J’ai fait gagner un match de basket à mon équipe et mes amis m’ont appelé Hyro The Hero. J’ai décidé d’inclure ça dans mon Rap et tout le monde au lycée l’a repris car je Rappais avec tellement de confiance en moi.

TvRockLive.com : Pourquoi avoir pris ce pseudo ?
Why this scene name?
Hyro : « It was the perfect title for me. There have been many situations where I had to fight like a superhero to survive. When I say the name it’s always a confidence builder for me. People cut it short and just call me Hero which is always cool. »

Hyro : C’était un nom tout trouvé pour moi. J’ai dû me battre comme un super héros dans tellement de situations pour survivre. Quand je pense à ce nom de scène ça me donne confiance. Des gens m’appellent juste « Héros » parfois et je trouve ça Cool.

Hyro les débuts

TvRockLive.com : Quelles ont été tes premières expériences ?
What were your first expériences?
Hyro : « My first experiences in music started with my sister coming home and rapping with DJ Screw. He used to Dj a night club called Soca Village. My parents are Trinidad and Tobago so they loved that club in Houston . My sister and him would Rap and write music and it always intrigued me. DJ Screw went on to become a Legend and you hear the sound he created in all Rap today. »

Hyro : Mes premiers contacts avec la musique ont commencé quand ma sœur venait à la maison avec DJ Screw pour Rapper. Il était DJ dans une boîte appelé Soca Village. Mes parents viennent de Trinité-et-Tobago alors ils adoraient y aller à Houston. Ma sœur et lui écrivaient, Rappaient et ça m’intriguait, j’avais 6 ou 7 ans. DJ Screw est devenu une légende et on entends le son qu’il a créé dans le Rap d’aujourd’hui.

TvRockLive.com : Inter générationnelle et éclectique, ta musique élève le Rap au rang de Guest Star du Metal ou est-ce le contraire ?

Intergenerational and eclectic, your music raise the Rap to the guest star stage of Metal or is it the reverse?
Hyro : « It’s the reverse because my mixtape beginnings I sampled Rock ‘n’ Roll. That is where I began. All the Rock kids thought I was screaming like I was singing Metal when I rapped so the Rock crowded adopted.»

Hyro : C’est l’inverse car quand j’ai commencé à faire des mixtapes je Samplais du Rock ‘n’ Roll. C’est là que tout a commencé. Les adeptes du Rock pensaient que je criais quand je Rappais alors ils m’ont adopté.

TvRockLive.com : Comment réagissent les artistes qui répondent présents à cette profusion d’idées ?
How react the artists who are present at this profusion of ideas?
Hyro : « I have gained so much respect from all the legends of rock n roll. I have features from Corey Taylor of Slipknot, David Draiman of Disturbed and even Chad Gray of Mudvayne. Korn has showed me so much love over the years. And I learned so much from Chino of Deftones who supported me early in my career when I first moved to LA. »

Hyro : J’ai gagné le respect de légendes du Rock. J’ai collaboré avec Corey Taylor de Slipknot, David Draiman de Disturbed ou encore Chad Gray de Mudvayne. Korn a toujours été présent pour moi. J’ai aussi appris beaucoup de Chino de Deftones qui m’a soutenu au début de ma carrière quand je suis arrivé à Los Angeles.

TvRockLive.com : A quel moment as-tu décidé de reprendre le mélange des styles ?
When did you decided to mix together the styles?
Hyro : « I decided to mix the styles when my high school girlfriend broke up with me. I wanted to scream at her so I took a Rock song an turned it into Hip Hop and screamed my heart out. From then on I knew I was on to something that fit me perfectly »

Hyro : J’ai choisi de mélanger les genres quand j’étais au lycée et ma copine a rompu avec moi. Je voulais crier donc repris un titre Rock que j’ai remixé en Hip Hop et j’ai crié dessus ce que je ressentais. C’est là que j’ai su que j’avais trouvé mon truc à moi.

TvRockLive.com : Est-ce important pour toi de mélanger les générations ?
Is it important for you to mix the generations?
Hyro : « Yes I would love the new generation to grab a hold of my music. The new generation loves Hip Hop so much and has so much Rock influence. Once to grab their ears I think they will be hooked on the heavy side of things. »

Hyro : Oui j’aimerai que la nouvelle génération comprenne ma musique. Les jeunes adorent le Hip Hop et sont aussi très influencés par le Rock. Une fois qu’ils auront écouté ma musique je pense qu’ils adoreront le style qu’elle représente.

TvRockLive.com : Comment a évolué ton processus créatif ?
How your creative process evolved?
Hyro : « I’ve been doing music since I was 13 years old. I’ve grown so much over time that I learn how much structure is important to a song. I prise myself on how great I’ve become at structuring songs and making great choruses that hook a person in. »

Hyro : Je fais de la musique depuis mes 13 ans. J’ai appris avec le temps que la structure est importante dans une chanson. Je me rend compte à quel point j’ai progressé à structurer mes chansons et créer des refrains qui restent dans la tête.

TvRockLive.com : Il est difficile de te suivre, tu es toujours en mouvement et en création, te considères-tu comme un surdoué de la musique ?
It’s hard to follow you, you are always in move and in creation, do you see yourself as a music genius?
Hyro : « Haha I can’t use that title until further notice. Ask me that after I sell a million records one day. »

Hyro : Haha je ne peux pas déjà me considérer comme tel. Demandez-moi ça quand j’aurai vendu des millions d’albums.

TvRockLive.com : En septembre 2022, sort le film de genre « The Retaliators » dont tu signes le titre « Who’s that playing on the radio ». Comment s’est passé ce projet incluant Danny Worsnop d’Asking Alexandria et Mick Mars de Mötley Crüe ?

In September 2022 was released the movie « The Retaliators » which you made the single « WPR ». How this project including Danny Worsnop and Mick Mars happened?
Hyro : « The movie was made from my record label Better Noise who has some amazing artist on the catalogue including Asking Alexandria and Mötley Crüe. I gained so much respect over the years with my music that it led to huge artist knowing of me. Once that song was made they were excited to be apart of it when it was sent to them. »

Hyro : Le film a été fait par mon Label Better Noise qui regroupe de super artistes et groupes comme : Asking Alexandria et Mötley Crüe. Grâce à ma musique j’ai gagné au cours des années le respect des plus grands artistes. Une fois que j’ai fini cette chanson et qu’elle leur a été envoyé, Mick Mars et Danny Worsnop avaient hâte de participer.

TvRockLive.com : Que penses-tu de la bande son et du revival du film de genre ?
What do you think about the movie soundtracks and this horror movie revival?
Hyro : « I love It. A great horror movie is always the best. This movie was awesome. I’m happy to say I was at the premiere in LA. »

Hyro : J’adore. Un film d’horreur bien fait c’est le top. Ce film est super. Je suis content de dire que j’étais à la première à L.A.

TvRockLive.com : Penses-tu que les temps sont venus de passer à un Cross Over assumé des styles (Five Finger Death Punch, The Hu, etc…) est-ce une volonté du réalisateur ou l’avenir des domaines artistiques qui sont obligés de cohabiter pour exister ?

Do you think the time has come to move on to an assumed Cross Over of styles (5FDP, The Hu, etc…) is it the will of the director or the future of the artistic fields which are obliged to coexist in order to exist?
Hyro : « The blending of styles has naturally formed in this generation full of technology. So I think it will all be forced to coexist in the same atmosphere very soon. Right now I don’t believe anything is only rap or rock, we have blended all sounds to keep creating the music of the future. »

Hyro : Le mélange des styles s’est créé naturellement avec cette génération pleine de technologie. Je pense que ça va être obligé de coexister dans la même atmosphère très bientôt. Aujourd’hui je ne crois pas qu’il y ait des sons aux influences uniquement Rap ou Rock, tout se mélange pour toujours plus innover.

Hyro et projets

TvRockLive.com : Quelle est ton actualité ? Projets aboutis ou non…  Parle-moi de « Head Under Water » ?

What are your projects this year? What can you say abour « HUW »?

Hyro : « This year my album will come out and it will be amazing. « Head Under Water » is the first single featuring Reddstar and Dan Sugarman of Ice Nine Kills and it is doing great right now on Spotify and YouTube. It focused on the struggle with depression and trying to overcome it. It’s very relatable to lots of people. »

Hyro : Cette année mon nouvel album va sortir, ça va être génial. « Head Under Water » est mon 1^er Single (en Featuring avec Dan Sugarman de Ice Nine Kills et Reddstar) et pour l’instant le nombre d’écoute en Streaming est très bon. Ça parle de la lutte contre la dépression et de comment s’en sortir. Beaucoup de personnes peuvent s’identifier.

TvRockLive.com : On te voit au Hellfest ? Que penses-tu de ce festival ?
Do you gonna play on Hellfest? What do you think about this festival?
Hyro : « I’m not on Hellfest. I’ve played many festivals in my life and I would love to add Hellfest to the list. It would be very exciting for me because I live in Nantes, France now. It would be an Insane show I promise. »

Hyro : Je ne fais pas le Hellfest. J’ai fait beaucoup de festivals dans ma vie et j’adorerai ajouter celui là à ma liste. Ce serait Cool pour moi car j’habite à Nantes maintenant. Ça serait un concert spectaculaire.

TvRockLive.com : Que souhaites-tu concrétiser dans l’année, c’est une tribune libre pour t’exprimer :
What would you like to be able to do this year?
Hyro : « I want to Take over the whole world this year. »

Hyro : Je veux conquérir le monde cette année.
